Large scale - Studio day

Notes: Working on very large scale piece on Fabriano paper. Working on floor. Size approx 9ft by 5ft, Charcoal, pastel, ink and water based pigments. Goal; to work with gestural marks, off the page. messy, on the floor to abstract view. layering, dripping, over-painting and drawing. The process of working in this way became bodily. Walking over the paper to reach across whilst working. The process seemed performative as my whole body was needed in the process. Reflecting back ; in repeating the exercise I would use less colour to simplify, to avoid colour distracting from the making process.
